Licensing Scheme

We believe that employing a fair, yet simple licensing scheme is a good thing to do. Confusing our users with overly complicated lists of dos and don’ts is definitely the last thing we want to do.

Our licensing scheme is different for home users and business users: For business users, it’s as simple as it can be: One seat - one license. If you want to buy a bulk of licenses for any of our software, please contact us directly at sales@codelaide.com for a rebate.

For home users, our main objective is not to let the licensing scheme get in your way. Nothing is more annoying than having to worry about wether you’re allowed to use your license on both your laptop and desktop computer and, in the worst case, even having to buy multiple licenses of the same software!

Therefore, we decided to employ a sensible and fair licensing scheme for home users: Every home user is allowed to install the license on ALL their Macs, both at home and at their workplace. Additionally, it is allowed for home users to install the license for ALL users in their household, as long as they are living together with the licensee.

Home users are NOT allowed to give their license out to co-workers at their workplace, nor are the users living in the same household as the licensee allowed to use the licensee’s license for Macs that they use at their respective workplaces.

So, as an example, a home user is allowed to install their license at home on both their iMac and their MacBook as well as on their Powermac at work. Furthermore, it is allowed to install the license on their husband’s and kid’s iMac at home. The older son who’s no longer living in the same household as the licensee, on the other hand, is not allowed to use this license. Giving the license out to co-workers or friends is also a taboo.

Oh, and of course neither home nor business users are allowed to publish their license information, on the Internet or elsewhere.

Distributing the license over the Internet or failing to comply with the above licensing scheme will result in the termination of the license in future versions of our software: Your license key would simply not be accepted by the update anymore.

All our licenses are cryptographically personalized to the licensee’s name and email address. Because of the strong cryptography used in this process, however, it is only possible for Codelaide staff to extract this information.

If you have lost your registration key, we are glad to send it to you again: Just use this form or drop us an email directly to support@codelaide.com. If possible, please write from the email address that is associated with the PayPal account you used to buy your license (this makes the verification of your identity easier for us). If you do no longer use this email address, please try to supply as much information about the purchase as possible (like your full name and maybe the approximate time when you bought the license, anything that comes to your mind that may make verifying your identity easier for us).
